SILLY SAUSAGE RECIPE - Vegetable Orzo Pasta
There's so many simple ways you can serve our Silly Sausages to help introduce more veg & lower the meat consumption at family mealtimes! Good for your health and better for the environment! With 29% high quality pork along with pea protein and pea fibre, little ones will never know just how much veg they're eating! Sulphate and nitrate free - Silly Sausages contain no nasties at all whilst tasting absolutely delicious! With less than one quarter of the salt of normal sausages, they are a great choice for the whole family.
Our Silly Sausages are made without skins. Sausage skins are not great health wise and can cause a choking hazard in young children. Having no skins also gives you the option to mince up the sausages - even more recipe options for dinner!
Our Silly Sausage recipe - Vegetable Orzo Pasta will have everyone feeling they've just stepped into Italy! 🇮🇹
Ingredients (Serves 4 child portions, leftovers can be frozen or enjoyed by parents!) -
🛒 1 Nana Manners Silly Sausage - we used the triangle shape (available at Tescos)
🛒 250ml boiling water
🛒 1 low salt chicken stock cube
🛒 160g orzo pasta
🛒 ¼ courgette, diced
🛒 1 small red/orange pepper, diced
🛒 ½ a garlic clove, minced
🛒 1 tsp olive oil
🛒 Freshly grated Parmesan cheese for topping
✅ How to cook -
⭐️ Boil water in the kettle and dissolve 1 low salt chicken stock in a jug.
⭐️ Add the orzo to a small saucepan with the chicken stock and cook until al dente, draining any excess liquid.
⭐️ Next heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the sausages and cook, breaking it up as it cooks.
⭐️ Once browned and cooked through, add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, then add the pepper and courgette.
⭐️ After about 2 minutes, add the cooked orzo to the sausage mix and stir to combine.
⭐️ Top with the Parmesan cheese, enjoy!
