The Stage 3 childrens cutlery sets are designed for reception and primary school aged children aged from 3 - 9 years old. Ideally suited for children comfortably using their left and right handed movement together when eating and becoming  more independent at mealtimes and doing what the big kids do!  (3 years to 9 years).

Our children cutlery sets are a patented, ergonomically designed creation uniquely shaped for children to learn how to use a knife and fork whilst promoting using a three fingered tripod grasp. When the thumb, index finger and middle finger work together to pick up small objects. A child typically develops this grip around the age of three or four years old. It is a functional grasp which is essential for a number of tasks, such as holding a pencil or fastening buttons. This grasp is used throughout the day and is an essential part of their grip development.  As children improve their dexterity, co-ordination and fine motor skills, they will be able to move into a tripod grip more easily from a relaxed hand. The best way to develop and strengthen your child’s tripod grip is to encourage them to practice using this grasp at every opportunity, strengthening the muscles in their hands.

Nana’s Manners children’s cutlery can also be used in play, e.g., with play-dough! This is done in many nurseries and school settings. That’s a lot of fine motor skill development support rolled into the everyday task of eating!

The children cutlery set designed to promote independence at mealtimes whilst making learning to use a knife & fork fun and easy  for little hands. These are the last sets your children will need until they are ready for adult sized cutlery.

Receive a set of our Stage 3 knife and fork set in a surprise colour from our best selling range!

Our Children's cutlery sets are Nana's Manners very first product. Recommend by NHS professionals and used by schools across the UK. This Learning aide was designed by Kathryn, a teacher, to help children learn to use a knife and fork.  The sets are perfectly shaped and soft to the touch. This children's cutlery was created to ensure your child enjoys the process of learning how to use a knife and fork. You'll see in no time at all these sets will become the go-to set and mealtime favourite for your little one, for many years to come!

The patented design of this children's cutlery utilises the tri-pod grip. This is an essential part of children's grip development journey. It's the same grip used for writing, buttoning, fastening and tying, all the things that little hands are learning to do in their early years. The more they practice the tri-grip the better their fine motor skills become! Each pack contains colourful peek-a-boo stickers that feature our orang-utan friend Jeddie. They can be used to guide little fingers for the first few uses so your little one can "get to grips" with learning this life skill all by themselves, in no time at all!

Made from quality stainless steel and food grade plastic (BPA-free) handles. Nana's Manners children's cutlery aids growing children, making mealtimes easy and stress-free.

Using a knife and fork in coordination is a significant step in children’s motor skills development. From 3yrs - 5yrs old, children are learning to cut and spread with a knife. It can take some time beyond this before they are completely independent in confidently cutting up all their meals and eating truly all by themselves. Our Stage 3 childrens cutlery is routinely used by children from 3yrs – 10yrs old to support their fine motor skill development and independent eating.
Is it just about eating? The short answer is no, there are many other benefits to children's cutlery, extending way beyond the dinner table. Much like the first moment you witness your little ones riding their bike without stabilisers, you will see that joy and confidence shine when realising they can hold their ergonomically designed children’s cutlery, cut up their own food, and eat all by themselves for the first time. Their confidence will soar! We spent a long time designing our Stage 3 knife blade to actually work (unlike so many others we had tested when looking at children’s cutlery). The safe design allows children to cut their food effectively, using the correct ‘sawing’ action from their elbow, something they will delight in! Children love to be ‘big’ and learn to do new things. You will see their whole approach to mealtimes change as they feel empowered! Read More
